The thing that amazes me is the game developers actually put Mew's data in the game but for some reason he couldn't be caught in normal game play. I wonder why Game Freak did that.

greatest pokemon glitch ever. there is a different way to do it so you can choose what pokemon you run in to.

my son got a gameboy and did this glitchwith his friends who have gameboys. Now he is the king of his school!

I prefer the version that works early in the game, on nugget bridge. That way I can use mew for almost the entire game.

This actually works with any trainer that the camera has to "pan" a certain direction to see. To catch Mew, all you must do is fly/teleport away from said trainer, fight another trainer that has to walk up to you, then encounter any Pokemon with a special stat of 21. I had already fought the Slowpoke Trainer when I learned of this trick, so I just used the Gambler, fought a Rocket, and caught a level 15 Diglett in Diglett's cave, and the glitch still worked perfectly.

If you're haven't been to Cerulean Gym yet, the Swimmer inside triggers Mew's appearance as well. (Plus, he MUST swim over to you, so no danger of freezing. Just... don't talk to him from the path at the far right.)

If you use growl 6 times on the last pokemon you encounter before mew and then you flee, you will encounter a level 1 mew and when it gains experience it will automatically go to 100

Totally works! Just did it and caught a level 7 Mew.

For the Mew Glitch to take effect, all you need to do is make sure you haven't beaten the Slowpoke trainer on the Cerulean Cape. The other trainers and leaders you can fight, as they won't do anything to the glitch.
