They still use the perimeter light on the board today. It goes on after the clue has been fully read, telling the players they can now ring in. The viewers at home never see it on because the players are always being shown ringing in every time the perimeter light comes on.

It really helps to add in the rule of buzzing in after the question has been completly read, versus having the original rule to buzz in, after the question is chosen.

Another change that they made was they added a light display on the top of the players’ podiums, which slowly go out after the player rings in and the host calls on them. It’s to show the players and everyone who’s watching how much time they have left to respond, which is still used today.

The champion was placed at the far right podium for the first week of Season 2 only, before returning to the left podium on the second week.

Today, instead of being on the outside of game board's frame, the perimeter light is now located in the space between the frame and clue boxes.

Sale of the Century aired after Jeopardy!, I guess it was 1990 when WOF took the 7:30PM slot

In my area. WLOS channel 13 (ABC) had Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune in the fall of 1985 and still on til this day. Prior to that both programs were on WYFF channel 4 (NBC) during the 1984 1985 season.
