You always hear things like,
“he earns £250,000 a week…”
But that doesn’t necessarily mean £250K lands in his account every Friday.
In football, wages are usually reported weekly because that’s traditionally how salaries are compared in the UK.
But the actual payment could be monthly or follow whatever schedule is written into the player’s contract.
And that £250K figure is usually before tax and deductions.
Then you’ve got bonuses, image rights, sponsorships and signing fees on top.
So when you hear a footballer earns £250K a week, that’s really describing the value of the contract — not necessarily their actual payday.

This whole incident really confuses me, firstly barely any of the artists at the GRM Awards have commented on what happened, despite Spray literally getting stabbed inside the venue. What's weirder is that none of the mainstream media has picked this up (at least as far as I can tell)- am I really expected to believe that all the papers that have been demonizing drill and doing up all this urban violence sensationalism just let this incident fall through their hands?
