The final of Night is spectacular, few notes on that piano makes it better than the record

I am again astonished by how much of a craftsman he was back then. I had always thought these songs came out pretty much full blown, the way we heard them on the album. But over and over again I now see, and now know, he just really crafted them until he finally got what he wanted. What’s remarkable about all that is, they sounded so fresh and real, not forced and worked. Unbelievable really in the end. And to my mind, in every case, the final choice…was the best choice… the correct decision. That is truly astonishing.
