it is not a matter of being respectful, He could have just shake hands, that is respectful enough with a smile in the face. America was founded as a free country where every human being has the same rights and liberties therefore we do not believe in royal bloods or Kings, so we do not bow. that would mean we are not equal or the person in front is more than you or superior which is not proper for what we American believe.

This editing cracks me up. Well for anyone that cares, Princess Diana also showed proper respect to the Emporer by doing two full deep curtsies. Although, she was never a Queen so an Emperor would have heirarchy over her.

Just coming back from Japan. Glad our president respects their traditions. Shows an amazing understanding of foreign cultures in general. This is why is so respected and listened to abroad. Open your mind, travel a bit, you'll see what I am talking about.(Still has no clue what G.W was trying to do while looking for that hidden door in China! Remember those days?)

Bowing is an ordinary manner here in Japan so we are not so serious as US citizens...

Thank you Mr.Obama US president to come and talk that your early government had killed 200,000 innocent babies girls women by your atomic bombs onto Hiroshima crowd area in the morning. Our 80,000 ancestors died without breathing next by the extreme heat.
