Good ol' Steve Atwater. They didn't call him "The Smiling Assassin" for nothing. And poor Christian Okoye earned himself a "What'd we learn?" moment, the hard way.

I just learned about Okoye and really like and respect the guy not only as a player but also as a person. I clicked on this and realized that I had seen this so many and times and that fact this is who Atwater hit makes it so much more impressive to me. Btw I think Steve is one of the most impressive hitters in football history.

'Good Tackler' is an understatement. The guy had over 1k tackles in 11 seasons. Reed and Polamalu accrued a little more than half of that (547, and 607 respectively) in 10 seasons.

i am graced with the honor that i was able to see Atwater play live. he was one of the all time best hitters in the nfl.

I'm a life-long Raiders fan. That being said, since seeing this for the first time as a kid when it happened, I've yet to see a better hit - in context - ever. Little guys or blindsided guys get decleated all the time, but Okoye was coming full-steam-ahead and Atwater just floored him. Best.Hit.Ever.

As a Raiders fan, I must say that Atwater was a fierce tackler and one of the best. He's up there with Tatum and Butkus as one of the hardest hitters of all time.
