Buyogan Extended Stories WE UNDERSTAND. WE SIMPLY DISAGREE Brief Description: A thoughtful, firm response from the teaching profession — acknowledging the literal meaning of a statement while challenging its fairness, accuracy, and implications. Critical thinking, not misunderstanding, drives the disagreement. Monologue: When USEC Claire Castro spoke of "the other teachers" and linked poor teaching to children lacking manners — and by extension, to the tragic shooting incident in Zamboanga — we understood her words clearly. We know "the other teachers" does not mean all teachers. We are not confused. We are not misreading. We understand perfectly. But understanding is not agreement. And comprehension is not acceptance. We ask, with respect and with reason: Is this true? Is this necessary? Is it fair to lay the weight of societal ills — of violence, of broken systems, of influences far beyond the classroom — solely at the feet of the profession that stands in the gap every single day? What of the government’s role? To ensure safe schools, to provide adequate support, to address poverty and mental health, to regulate access to weapons, to strengthen communities? Are these not shared responsibilities? When a tragedy occurs, must the first instinct be to blame those who show up, teach, and care — often with too little, for too long? Critical thinking does not stop at literal meaning. It looks at context, implication, fairness, and evidence. It asks: Does this framing serve the truth? Does it honor complexity? Does it help us solve the problem — or only find someone to blame? We do not argue with the words. We argue with the premise. We disagree that teachers — alone or in groups — bear the primary responsibility for every child’s character, every community’s struggle, every crisis that unfolds beyond the school gate. We understood the statement. We simply reject how it frames the issue. And that is not defiance — that is critical thinking. That is speaking up for a profession that deserves partnership, not scapegoating; support, not blame; and recognition that raising a child truly takes a village — and a government — not only a teacher. #TeachersAreNotToBlame #CriticalThinking #EducationIsSharedResponsibility #RespectTheProfession #GovernmentRoleInEducation #FairnessInDiscourse #WeUnderstandWeDisagree (2 months ago)

Buyogan Extended Stories THE MELODY WAITING TO BE HEARD Brief Description: A quiet, heartfelt reflection of a songwriter whose talent is widely known, yet never sought first. It speaks of the ache of always being the last resort, the uncertainty of being overlooked, and the quiet confidence that remains — waiting only for the chance to prove what can be created when trust is finally given. Monologue: I have written so many songs — not to boast, not to show off — but because music flows out of me as naturally as breathing. And everyone knows. They hear my work, they say it is good, it is different, it has heart. Yet no one ever comes to me first. No one asks, “Will you make this with me?” until every other door has closed. Until every other name has said no. Am I only worth asking when there is no one else left? Do they think my skill is only good enough to fill an empty space? Is it doubt? Is it dislike? Or have they simply never imagined how much brighter their work could be, if they only began with me instead of ending here? How long must I wait for someone to trust what I can do? How many times must I stand by, until they have tried and failed elsewhere? But if you would only try me first — just once — you would see. You would be surprised by what we can build together. I am ready. My songs are ready. All I ask is this: do not wait until you have nowhere else to go. Trust me now. And you will never have to look for another again. Buyogan Extended Stories MISTAKEN STRENGTH Brief Description: A raw, reflective monologue from a man who has long been undervalued because others assume his strength means he needs less care, concern, or priority. It lays bare the pain of being taken for granted, watching attention shift away from him even when he is hurting, and the quiet turning point where he begins to choose himself over being the “strong one” everyone relies on. Monologue: You chose to value him more simply because you saw him as weaker. You looked at me and decided I was stronger — so I could wait, I could understand, I could carry the weight alone. I am the one who stays beside you, present through every day, yet it is someone else who fills your thoughts and holds your heart. I have often wondered: if danger came, if something terrible happened to both of us… who would you save first? I already know the answer. It would be him — the one who only pretends to be fragile, while I have borne real pain in silence. There was a time I was nearly gone, left bleeding and broken inside. At first, you worried. But the moment he cried out in pain, even if it was small, your attention drifted away. You put him first, convinced that because I was “stronger,” I would not mind. You assumed I would understand — that I could survive being set aside again and again. But strength is not the same as invulnerability. Just because I do not shout my hurt does not mean I do not feel it. Just because I stand tall does not mean I do not long to be chosen, too. Now I ask you: what if I decided to leave? What if I walked away because I was tired of being the one who waits, who understands, who is always second? Could you handle losing the person you thought could never break? And what if, from this day forward, I choose myself first? What if I finally value my own heart more than I value being what everyone expects me to be? Could you handle that truth? #MistakenStrength #Undervalued #EmotionalBurden #SelfWorth #BeingTakenForGranted #ChooseYourself #ReflectiveMonologue (3 months ago)
