One possible theory is that one of the blades probably broke, and it would wobble with just three of the four blades on it, so they probably just ran it like that from then on.

i guess it can still give good breeze with even 2 blades, as long as they are well-balanced

Yeah that definately looks like an SMC, but i dont think it is. I was thinking it was an A52 version, but i dont think so. The a52 doesnt have the venting on the side of the housing like that one does, but the GE venting looks like it though. Pretty odd looking fan, and u probably already know this, but i doubt those two blades go to that fan lol. Poor Fan!
