OBAMA TO THE RESCUE?
Barack Obama is heading to Detroit to campaign for Abdul El-Sayed, who has struggled to win over some Black voters. But instead of bringing Black Michigan another political celebrity, Democrats should be prepared to answer some serious questions.
Detroit still struggles with poverty, unemployment, and economic inequality. And Black Michigan has not forgotten **Flint**, a crisis that unfolded during Obama’s presidency, while his EPA was later criticized for failing to intervene sooner.
*Obama cannot be the policy.
The question for El-Sayed is simple: **What are you going to do specifically for Black Michigan?**

🚨 LATEST ARTICLE — BLACK WESTCHESTER
NEW YORK’S PRISON PROBLEM: STILL NO SOLUTION FOR STATE CORRECTION OFFICERS**
Eighteen months after the correction officer strike, New York still has a serious problem. The state had approximately **14,334 correction officers, sergeants and lieutenants in September 2024. Today, that number is approximately 11,113**, while roughly **34,000 incarcerated individuals** still have to be supervised.
Meanwhile, New York continues relying on thousands of National Guard members inside state prisons at an enormous cost to taxpayers. Recruitment campaigns are not enough when experienced officers continue leaving the profession.
The numbers don't lie. The question is whether Albany is willing to listen.

For generations, we have shared our culture with the world without putting clear boundaries around our ancestral identity, American history, struggle, victories, and inheritance. Now we are seeing the unintended consequences.
Cultural participation is not ancestral identity. Cultural proximity is not ancestral lineage.
This isn’t about division. It’s about preservation. We can respect the entire African diaspora and build coalitions with other communities without allowing Black American identity to become so broad that the descendants themselves disappear.

Now this is true activism. Instead of jumping on IG writing a post or on IG live just talking and having interviews and group chats with rappers and media outlets. He took it straight to the people that can affect change and voiced his opinion. I don't know what happened behind him doing this if they acted upon his request, but he put boots on the ground and made an effort. Salute!
