Deadliest Disasters
I've been sick lately so I haven't been able to record a new video. I have some ideas in mind for what I want to work on though. Tonight I'm going to post the Terrible Tuesday film from 1979 about the devastating F-4 tornado that struck Wichita Falls, Texas, on April 10, 1979. There's some cool survivor accounts to see. Check out my video I did on the Wichita Falls F4 if you haven't seen it yet too. Thanks everyone!!

The Jarrel F5 in 1997 would be another contender. While it moved at a snail's pace through the Double Creek Estates, the damage is considered to be some of the worst of all time. There was nothing left, not even solid debris.

He also said it about 1974 Guin. My aunt lost her house in that one

Dr. Fujita also considered the April 1977 Smithfield (Birmingham), AL F5 as an F6. That same system brought down Southern Airways Flight 242 just outside of Atlanta, GA.

If there would be any twisters that would leave a large crater with broken underground pipes sticking out where a town once stood, I'd rate it as an EF6.

I have lived in Lubbock since 74. What most people don't know is that night Lubbock was hit by a F4 tornado shortly before the F5 ripped through the north part of town. There is a monument in town that shows the path of each one of these.

I would have loved to have met and had a chance to chat with Dr. Fujita- I think he would have been fascinating to talk with.

I wonder how Dr Fujita would rank some of the biggest tornadoes we've had since his passing?

Ted Fujita also did extensive research of the Fargo 1957 tornado, concluding it was probably an F5.

lubbock tornado was only 1.5 miles wide but had winds of 318 mph and possibly little higher in it

So, reading all of these comments, it appears that as many as 6 tornadoes were either rated or seriously considered for an F6 rating! I think that he should've let these F6 ratings stand because the damage associated with these tornadoes would've convinced me to leave the F6 initial assignment in place permanently!!

My dad owned a house in Lubbock Texas that was destroyed in that tornado. We were living in Texas at the time and my dad was renting the house.
