To keep smiling after getting slapped in front of a group of people is a kind of art and Chris has mastery in it.
jonesdylan3953 (4 years ago)
will really just walked up and slapped him in front of everyone, cussed him out, and then won best actor AND got a standing ovation. i’m living in an alternate reality what just happened
sundaramjayaswal1317 (3 years ago)
The moment when Will sat down and kept shouting was more awkward than the slap itself

Imagine defending your wife, only for her to say to the public that she didn't need you to defend her

We literally see how he was laughing and Jada rolled her eyes and looked at Will then he walked up. Her influence on him is crazy
n0va_Honmono (4 years ago (edited))
0:44 The fact Chris ignored that slap and improvised by making a joke and letting everyone think this is part of the Show.

Will: That was funny

"How to end your career in 60 seconds" by Will Smith.
yoloswaggins1579 (3 years ago)
Looking back on this, if Will smith hadn't shouted at chris rock twice during an awkward silence, everyone would've thought it was an act and it would've been swept under the rug.
44_bit_abhi83 (3 years ago)
Will Smith literally just immortalised a joke that everyone would've forgotten twenty seconds after it was said
philmstud2k (3 years ago)
What's even crazier is that until Will Smith ranted with the "keep my wife's name..." bit, everyone thought it was a phony slap, part of a joke, which wouldn't be uncommon for the Oscars. Once Will Smith started yelling and cussing, everyone realized he was serious.
